Animal Kingdom offers a vast selection of culinary delights that promise to take your taste buds on an exotic journey around the world. Even when I'm not planning a visit to the park, I often find myself making a detour to Animal Kingdom just for the food. Among my top dining destinations is Yak & Yeti, a Nepalese-style eatery. Tucked away in "Asia," at the foothills of Mount Everest, this restaurant is a feast for the senses.
Securing a reservation at this sought-after restaurant can be a challenge, even at the 60-day advanced dining reservation time. However, as a Landry's restaurant, membership has its perks: members can simply walk in and gain a spot. A Landry's membership fee is $25, which is immediately offset by a $25 restaurant gift card upon signing up. In my view, it's a fantastic deal!
As you step into the restaurant, you're welcomed by an immense collection of authentic Asian statues, paintings, and decorations. The seating upstairs and downstairs is equally impressive, each offering a visually stunning theme, and an elevator is available for those with mobility needs.
Let's now talk about the scrumptious food! The regular menu is accessible through the My Disney Experience App, but there's also an exclusive in-person menu featuring seasonal dishes and specialty cocktails. It's great that the menu varies, offering new tastes to explore. Similar to other Landry's restaurants, they serve cocktails in a collectible cup or shaker. I opted for a passion fruit margarita, which was incredibly delicious and invigorating.
I often start with an appetizer, as there are many tantalizing choices available. Among my favorites are the Ahi Tuna Nachos and the lettuce cups. Though they're categorized as "shareables" for two, they can easily serve as a satisfying main dish. For those who prefer something less filling, the wok-fried green beans and pork pot stickers are exceptional.
The Thai Basil Chicken is my absolute favorite main course. Initially a seasonal special, its popularity secured it a permanent spot on the menu. It's a unique take on the dish, featuring ground chicken that's been perfectly seasoned and mixed with vegetables and egg noodles, all brought together with Thai basil in a sauce that's the right balance of sweet and spicy. If you're looking for something different, the Dragon Roll Bowl is a fantastic choice, boasting spicy tuna, dynamite crab, and teriyaki salmon atop sushi rice. For fans of Indian cuisine, the Chicken Tikka Masala won't disappoint; it's authentic, packed with flavor, and comes with jasmine rice and garlic naan. No matter your choice, satisfaction is guaranteed. And for the kids, the menu offers a variety of "safe" options like grilled chicken, Mac and Cheese, and corn dogs, each accompanied by two sides. A little tip for parents: French fries are not listed, but they're available upon request.
A meal isn't truly finished without dessert. The fried wontons are exceptional. Imagine skewered cream cheese wontons and fresh pineapple paired with vanilla ice cream, all topped with a delectable honey-vanilla drizzle. It's definitely a dessert to save room for. I also highly recommended are the New York cheesecake and the mango pie.
Helpful Tips:
This restaurant is not owned by Disney; however, if you are a Landry's member, you can simply walk in and secure a reservation. You have the option to sign up for a Landry's membership on the day of your visit. The membership costs $25, but it includes a $25 gift card for immediate use.
If you choose not to buy a Landry's membership, remember spaces fill quickly, so it's necessary to book at the 60-day mark to secure an advanced dining reservation.
A cost-saving tip: Costco offers gift cards for dining at Yak and Yeti, which are actually Landry's gift cards. The price ranges from $74.99 to $79.99 for a $100 gift card, depending on the current promotion.
One table service credit from the Disney Dining Plan can be redeemed for this restaurant experience.
Consider booking your reservation 30-45 minutes before the park closes. This way, after your meal, you can stroll leisurely to the front of the park. It's an ideal time to take photos with fewer people around and the Tree of Life beautifully illuminated.
Regardless of the dish you select, you're bound to enjoy the meal and the experience at Yak & Yeti. Please share your thoughts on your dining experience at Yak & Yeti below.
Happy Dining, Readers!
